Iceland October 8-18, 2016
In 1996 I took Jackie who was my fiancée at the time to Europe which included my favorite place Zermatt Switzerland and the Matterhorn. (I had been there in 1991) While flying from Seattle to Frankfurt we flew over Greenland and Iceland. I was impressed by Iceland from the air and wanted to go there someday. For our 20th wedding anniversary we did. Jackie contacted Nordic Visitor on the web who arranged the lodgings and rental car. She also obtained the airline tickets with WOW airlines. (Airplane window shots) I was a very good vacation and Iceland rates way up there for places I've been. I would like to find the time to go back someday.

We spent 10 days driving around the island on Highway 1 the ring road. (With a couple of diversions or alternate routes) There were only about 9 or 10 hours of daylight and we usually traveled about 6 hours a day.
I was born in Albany, New York. It is an old city for America. The area was discovered by Henry Hudson in 1609. The Dutch built Fort Orange in 1624. Albany began as a city under the English in 1686. Reykjavik Iceland was established in 874

Unfortunately when we were in West Iceland it was pretty much socked in. The rain provided plenty of small waterfalls but visibility was low. We didn't see the Glacier or volcano which was featured as the entrance point in Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth.
