Back to Iceland
Glaciers
Iceland is home to the largest glacier in Europe (by volume) Vatnajokull (jokull means glacier in Icelandic, vatn means water or lake, vatna is the plural of vatn)
A local couple told me when they were young the glacier was up to where they are sitting in this picture

Svínafellsjökull is one of more than 30 outlet glaciers of Vatnajokull

Our only day of ten with actual bright sunshine for a prolonged period
Outlet glaciers appear through the low lying clouds
Glacier Lagoon
Icebergs cave off the glacier, are swept out to sea and thrown back on the beach
Fjallsarlon (The name of the lake)   Fjallsjokull is the glacier (An arm of the huge Vatnsjokull)
Just two lakes and a few miles south of Glacier Lagoon, it had a lot less tourists (A few instead of hundreds)
The top of Iceland clouded in (3840 wide)
Tinaborg (Rocky outcrop on the glacier, distant right of center is Hvannadalshnukur) A peek at the peak (Hvannadalshnukur through the clouds 2110 meters or 6923 feet above sea level)
