Martin Joseph Shields Sr.        July 2,1883 - December 19,1942
Martin Shields worked for the railroad express until a 500 lb safe crushed his leg. Afterwards he worked various temporary jobs while spending much of his time in and out of the hospital. He was almost never seen without crutches.
	Married Josephine Moran and had 6 children Thomas Dorothy James Martin Jr. Helen Mary

He liked strong black tea. He was a relatively short man 5'5" at best. He was good at woodworking and general odd jobs. My mother had a small dresser he had made.
