Mount Rainier.... is shorter than Mt Whitney in California
by 85 feet. Colorado peaks also
surpass its summit in elevation, but Mt Rainier stands supreme above the Sierra and Rockies in its heavy
glaciations and single isolated peak status. (High Sierra and Rockies peaks are usually bumps on a
high ridge)
