Mary Veronica Moran (Tucker) August 24, 1899 - May 2 ,1974

I remember visiting her when I was fairly young, she lived in a basement apartment across from the Governors Mansion in Albany on Eagle Street. At the end she lived in one of the ghetto high rises down in the South End at 159 Church Street. I visited her there last on leave from the Navy in the early 70s. She had very little money but her sister Helen would make sure she was alright (Until  Helen's death in 1968, after that she had her nieces Helen & Mary Shields (Lenzenhuber)).
When she was young she used to give her money for men's attention. Her husband was a gambler from Canada. He had been given a lump sum of money by the Canadian Government for his service in World War I. He used the money to buy a car. One time he was supposed to give Helen Moran and others a ride down to Lancaster Pennsylvania to visit their sister. He showed up a couple days late, he had lost the car in a card game. I never met the man that I can recall so he probably died before the 60's.
