When Mike & I arrived about 8:30 pm Thursday night,
Barry had been there since about 13:00. He had set up his tent,
a canopy and had a fire going. That night it dropped about 8 inches of snow
and his canopy collapsed and broke. We spent the night shaking
snow off our tents every few hours. Friday night was a repeat
with about another foot of snow dropping. The difference being
that Mike's canopy held up, he had gotten out at 4am to clean it
off. Saturday and Sunday it didn't snow but night temperatures
dropped to the mid to upper teens. Saturday we took the shuttle
bus around the valley. Sunday Mike and I took a 3 hour hike to
below Vernal Falls and back, Barry's emphysema wouldn't allow
him to make that strenuous a hike. |
