| Barry, his brother Kevin and I backpacked in a few miles from
Echo Lakes to Lake of the Woods for a couple of days. On the way in we took the boat
across Echo Lakes, on the way out I hiked the extra 2 1/2 miles.(saved $10) I took a 9 hr
hike trying to climb Jack's and Dick's Peaks (the only 9000' plus mountains in the area
I've never climbed). Seven miles on the trail and miles off it and I came up short by a
couple hours of the summit of Jack's Peak. On the way back down US395 I stopped around
Virginia Lakes and Long Lakes Valley for a couple of days. I unsucessfully tried to climb
Dunderberg Peak (Another 9 hr climb with too much scree and bouldering, again a couple
hours short). In Little Lakes Valley I hiked up to Morgan Pass. (Rock Creek area) |
