Yosemite February 10-19,2020
El Capitan, Clouds Rest, Half Dome, Sentinel Rock and Bridalveil Falls from Tunnel View
Yosemite Falls Bridalveil Falls
Yosemite Falls was flowing lightly, while Bridalveil was flowing stronger. Ribbon falls was barely there. Even though Horsetail Falls on El Capitan was non existent there were traffic restrictions and people showing up to see the Fire Fall which has made this time period much more crowded and hectic over the last decade or so.

I ended up spending 2 days at Millerton Lake and 8 days at Bass Lake (Six of them with Mike Stanwood and his dog Milo, I had left Mya at home). It was about a 60 mile drive into Yosemite Valley and we made the drive on two days as well as a drive and hike around the Turtleback Dome area. The year before I had spent all the time camping at Millerton and driving even farther to get into the park because of the heavy snow conditions. I had been planning on camping in the park at Wawona but the campground was closed and was being used for a staging area for a sewer line they were laying in the road. Where Upper Pines Campground had been closed last year because of snow it had three loops open this year but they were full.
El Capitan at 5pm on Feb18, 2005. The same lighting that hits a waterfall (Horsetail) around the right side of the monolith and draws February crowds. (no water this year)
Millerton and Bass Lakes
Sunset from my Millerton Lake campsite. (The lake was pretty low and although it butts up to the site it was a bit of a walk)
Bass Lake was also pretty low and missing all the snow that was there last year. (The reason I didn't try the Bass Lake campground last year was the snow although it was open)
The south side of Bass Lake has few houses but is mostly a recreation area. I thought it was a State area but turned out to be Federal. The $19.50 a night after 1/2 off for Seniors means it is normally $39 a night full price. Millerton was $28 a night for seniors but the State only gives you a couple dollar discount. The picture is of the north side which gets sun after the campground is in shade.
