Camp for the week complete with guard dog (Honorary
Title) |
Front yard at about 7,300' looking north
(About a 400 to 600' ridge with Dead Horse Meadow beyond it) |
The
area was very dry already due to less
than normal snowfall for the winter. The gates at the Blackrock Work
Center intersection were still locked and the rockslides covering half
the road in places above Kennedy Meadows hadn't been removed. I saw no
signs of Forest Service personnel, probably due to Corona Virus shut
down. Hardly anyone around during the week days but lots of people
driving around and doing day use on the weekend. |
|
Found a couple small snow banks for Mya on
the Beach Meadow dirt bike trail at about 8,100'. We had to hike beyond the
locked gates to find them and they were probably gone by the time we
left to go home. |

Old mine workings. (Lamont Pinnacles if far
distance) |
South Fork Kern River |
I had never seen
anyone set up a camp right next to the river at the Kennedy Meadows bridge
before. It is usually a common use area. The Winnebago trailer reminded
me of when I was at the Brown Bear Roadhouse in Glenn Allen Alaska the
police scanner came on about a Winnebago with Minnesota plates fishing
the fish hatchery. Some people. |
