June Lake Campground |
June Lake Campground was open but only
partially filled. The beach and beach parking was crowded. I was seeing
people camped in all kinds of places I'd never seen people camped before
because many campground were closed. Aspen Campground in Lee
Vining Canyon was gated. Hartley Springs Campground near Obsidian Dome
was posted closed for the season. Lots of toy haulers and OHV vehicles
around. The closure of the National Forest Campgrounds expired as of
June30th and by the 4th of July they were open and half full along with
the very large number of dispersed campers. |

distant left with Mammoth Mountain beyond it. (From
near camp, actually 2.5 mile roundtrip hike and about 550 foot elevation
gain to 8508') |
