Spring Training and the South Rim of the Grand Canyon March 20-26, 2018
Desert View from the Watchtower area with the confluence of the Colorado and Little Colorado Rivers upstream
Spring Training Scottsdale Stadium
Thursday night we had lawn seats for the Game against the Chicago Cubs which the Giants won in the 9th inning. Friday I sat in my bleacher seat until the game started then left it and never went back Besides the unpleasant woman next to me (Dodger fan but that wasn't her problem) I don't like sitting like a sardine. You have to move 10 or 20 people to get out of your assigned bleacher spot and the people behind you have their knees in your back and the people in front deal with your knees. I prefer the lawn, it's not as crowded but you can't sit there unless you have a lawn ticket. I just wandered the stadium until the game was over.
A view from my bleacher seat and the crowd on the lawn during Fridays day game against Kansas City which the Giants lost.

The Grand Canyon
The only campground open at the south rim was full so we dispersed camped in the national forest outside the park. They claimed the crowds were due to spring break. I saw mostly families including many foreign visitors. The south rim is always crowded which is why I prefer the north rim. I hadn't been to the south rim since I was there with my wife Jackie in 2001. I remember being there before you were forced to use the shuttles. They were running in 2001. Parking is still a problem even with the shuttles, they tell you what time of day which parking lots fill up.
