Sequoia National Forest June 26-30 2015
About 43 crow fly miles and 43 degrees cooler. (also over 6000' higher in elevation) Ridgecrest had been between 105 and 110 before I escaped for a few days. 109 first day back, supposed to be 111 tomorrow. The weather up near Dark Canyon and Sherman Pass was mostly overcast with occasional sprinkles of rain and temperature around 65.
South Fork of the Kern River dry at Kennedy Meadows Bridge (As I predicted at the end of April) Plants still waiting to flower closer to 9000' near Mosquito Meadows
Temp rain cover. (Didn't use it at night only sprinkled on a little) There were still snow flowers left at the higher elevations
Forks of the Kern and the Freeman Grove
The Needles (There used to be a fire lookout on the left needle until the lady working there accidentally burned it down)
I was unable to get to the Freeman Grove of Giant Sequoia due to a closure for some reason (I could have waited 2 days and got in) George Bush visiting his tree? Twenty three miles to the end of the road  for nothing. Since I couldn't get to my normal campsite on Freeman Creek I decided not to stay in the area. (It was also raining now and then) There were three cars at trailhead parking for Forks of the Kern and a person camped at the end of the road camp area. There were a lot of tents at the Lower Peppermill fee area.
