Salt Tram Summit Station and Sage Flats   Nov 7-9, 2014
The sunrise just touching the tops of Mt Whitney &Mt Russell from the Inyos
Another failed attempt to climb New York Butte with my old climbing buddy Mike. This time I put a rock through the side wall of one of my tires. Unfortunately I was only carrying one spare. We continued on to the Salt Tram Summit Station but decided not to push on any closer to the Burgess Mine and the end of the road near the Butte. (Also didn't feel like a 10 or more mile hike to the summit and back from the  Tram area ). Last time up that way I broke an engine mount, another time I had a crate of wood do a Tarzan off the roof rack and through my back side window. We spent a night at my point camp area (about 8,700' elevation near the Summit Station ) and took a short hike to the next major Salt Tram structure towards the Owens Valley. We moved over to Sage Flats in the Sierra near the Olancha Pass trailhead the next day because we wanted to get to a less desolate place in case we got another flat.
