Hawaii August 2-9 2014
I had been in the Honolulu airport five times and had never gotten out of it to see Hawaii. (Twice involving Guam and three times involving Japan) Over 40 years after my first time through Hawaii I finally got back to see some sights. (Only took me 17 years to get back to see Alaska) Added another tropical island to my list including the Philippians, Maldives, Guam & Aruba.
Waikiki
Waikiki from Diamond Head Top of Waikiki restaurant from our hotel balcony
Pearl Harbor
The Odd Squad on Ford Island in front of the Arizona Memorial USS Missouri
Waimea Valley
A swimming hole at the base of Waimea Falls (fairly crowded and you have to wear a life jacket)
A huge sampling of tropical plants from around the world
Honolulu Zoo
Black & tan Zebra (I'm used to black & white)
Added Honolulu Zoo to zoos I've visited. Others include Bronx (NYC), Tokyo (Ueno), San Francisco, San Diego & Los Angeles. I've camped outside the Munich Zoo twice but never went in. The Ueno Zoo had pampered Panda Bears and I remember the Koalas at the an Diego Zoo. (Koalas became my favorite animal when I was told the eucalyptus they eat ferments in their stomach and the get drunk. The number one cause of death of Koalas is getting drunk and falling out of trees  Turns out to be false, they just have a very slow metabolism but they are still cute.)
Little lizards Big Lizard (Komodo Dragon)
Bellows Air Force Station
Two bedroom, bath, kitchen & living room (We got the B side of the duplex) Brittany standing against a wave
The beach at Bellows Air Force Station is much less crowded than Waikiki (imagine that) Sunrise at Bellows
