Goff & Fish Canyons - Panamint Valley and Surprise Canyon      11/23/14 daytrip
Telescope Peak  11,049' elevation (left distant)                                      Brigs Mine 1,500' elevation (Center across Panamint Valley)
Dave and I did a day trip out past Trona and through part of the southern Panamint Valley. We lucked out and blindly took P68 out of the sand quarry area. It brought us over and down to the Panamint Valley across from the Brigs Mine. We also hit part of a route used by February 1850 pioneers on their way out of Death Valley. (The other part of the original party got caught by winter up near Donner Pass and resorted to cannibalism to survive.) A couple of light storms had hit the Panamint Mountains and Limekiln Spring was flowing hard in lower Surprise Canyon. It was nice having more than one vehicle for a change. (I spend a lot of time out alone)

I like the erosion patterns in some of the ancient raised seabed in Panamint Valley, now towering thousands of feet above the Panamint Valley floor. Herrin City Bus Lines Inc    (There is a Herrin City in Illinois but I doubt they drove it to the Panamint Valley, then again Mason claimed he flew his school bus up into nearby Goler Wash)
