Lee Vining Canyon  May 2013
Lee Vining Canyon below Log Cabin Mine Rd with Mt Gibbs and the Dana Plateau
Spent six nights camping at the Aspen Campground at the bottom of the canyon. Got to use my Senior Pass for the first time. (Saved $65 total) The Jeep died at the Log Cabin Mine around 9700' Managed to roll it down about 3 1/2 miles until a little up hill stopped me. There had been two previous tiny up hills, one I had enough momentum for one and the other I spent close to an hour using a snatch strap and come along anchored to small roadside aspens. There was nothing to anchor on when I had to stop partially blocking the road. Took the dog and hiked with a pack for five and a half miles (2 hrs) back to the Aspen Campground. Managed to get the Jeep off the road, get to Ridgecrest, brought my camper back and towed the Jeep home.
