In January
2005 I spent a week out in Indian Wells Canyon. While I was out
there a couple guys from the LA area were looking for the
pictographs. I explained their location as best as I could.
Since then I have decided to add this page to my web site.
I have arbitrarily numbered the sites as Site 1 and Site 2.
Getting to Site 1 the trailhead is the road closure at the Owens
Peak Wilderness Boundary. If you're lucky there should be a
small cairn along the trail in the scrub oaks a mile or so into
the Wilderness. For Site 2 take the road to the right a few hundred
yards before the road closure. Follow the road down towards the
bottom of the canyon but stop before it drops of drastically.
Follow the rest of the road on foot until it crosses the creek
and then just head up the hill.
