I went up Sand Canyon to Rodecker Flats twice in May for over niters to check on routes up Spanish Needles. Both times Rodecker Flats was very windy in the evening and since I didn't carry a tent I took cover in the wash. The local streams were still running from a wet winter. The first time I explored a route part way up and the second I tried to find the summit. Two miles of bush whacking took me over 6 hours and I ended up in a saddle short of the summit with no easy route in sight.
