My friend Mike Stanwood got me a job at Echo Range at China Lake Naval Weapons Station in May of 1993. I had been living with my parents on Harrison Avenue in Elsmere since October of 1992. I had been unsuccessfully been looking for work in the Albany area. My father had recommended I start looking outside the area but maybe not as far away as California. Although I had told Mike for years I didn't want to move to the desert I took the offer. As of  2014 I'm still in Ridgecrest and don't have any plans of moving. I love the Sierra, the desert (especially in the winter) and the remoteness of the location. I don't think I could ever live on the west side of the Sierra again. We should be part of Nevada not California.      I married Jackie Holland in October of 1996 after I had moved in with her at her house from my apartment around New Years of that year. Her son & daughter and their families also live in Ridgecrest.
