The death certificate is incorrect in that he did serve in the armed forces of the United States in around 1943-44 (USN). His veteran status enabled him access to sugar during WWII rationing that enabled his father Ludwig to start his bakery. In 1952 he used The Serviceman's Readjustment act to secure a VA loan on his new house. It also states in Block 20B ---- Vale Cemetery and in Block 20C Schenectady, New York. Maybe this is where he was cremated. He is buried with his wife Mary (Shields) Lenzenhuber in Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont, New York | |
I'm sure the letter was prepared by my mother. They were attempting to get a copy of his birth certificate so he could get Social Security when he turned 62 in 1988. They never did find a copy of his birth certificate but Social Security ended up accepting his baptismal certificate. (also I think my mother meant Schlosser may have been spelled shorter rather than shorer) | |
