Guam (1990 3 weeks)
The Micronesia Mall had a T-shirt "Guam the squashed frog capital of the world". I found out one day out by the tracking station. Hundreds of frogs crawled out of the jungle and onto the road. You had no choice but to drive over them and dry not to slide off the road with all the frog guts. I was out one morning at 1 am and it was raining lightly, felt about the same as mid day heat and humidity. Saw a gecko in the hotel elevator match to a weird man made pattern of the wall. (One hell of a chameleon). I liked hanging out at the Viking's Tavern, Dallas Club and the Tourist Club for the naked women. One girl Breezy, worked her way over from San Diego through Hawaii and on to Guam. She would use lit rubbing alcohol on her body during her act. I was always afraid she was going to burn the place down. I was there for 3 weeks and they wanted to move me their permanently but the contract site went away. At the Air Force food facility I bitched out a local cook for giving me what was basically two pieces of toast and a cold piece of cheese for a grilled cheese sandwich. I got a standing ovation by some of my  fellow dinners but also got balled out by management. (Air Force officer) Leave the Chamorro (locals) alone, they have enough problems keeping them as it is. The Horizon Hotel that  I stayed at for 3 weeks View towards Tumon Bay from the hotel
The Horizon is still there but is now condos (Picture from Goggle Street View 2016)
Viking's Tavern and The Tourist Club (A couple of nude bars)  At least one of the strip clubs had a massage parlor in the back of the building (Dallas Club I beielve)
The dog track (Google 2016)  I went to the track but left after a couple of races because the only beer they served was Miller
Guam jungle Guam coast
Magellan called Guam the Island of Thieves. While at anchor on the far side of the island, the locals gained access to his ship and robbed him. The locals still claim if his intentions were good he would have anchored in the natural harbor at Aquana instead of hiding on the other side of the island. Magellan was not the first to circumnavigate the world, his expedition was. He died in the Philippians and didn't make it all the way. Navy sailors used to have a joke. Guam stood for Give Up And Masturbate. Actually it had become a Mecca for Japanese and Australian tourist. When I was there they wanted the Navy to move in with the Air Force at Anderson and give them the Navy airfield so they could expand their commercial airport to handle more tourists. The Japanese especially enjoy the indoor & outdoor shooting ranges because guns are strictly controlled in Japan. I recently found out that the Naval Air Station was victim to the 1993 BRAC and became part of the Commercial Airport in 1995
Tracking Station (my reason for being there) A Guam cemetery definitely Christian (Guam was Spanish until 1898)
The building at the tracking site has an enclosed courtyard with vehicle access. One time a Typhoon hit and the people had parked their cars in the courtyard to help protect them. A radome came off an antenna in the storm and landed in the courtyard damaging some of the vehicles. (Story I heard while  working there briefly )
